For our second visit we got to actually pick the boys up to take them out for a day visit all by ourselves. We were so excited to get to spend time with them without their SW or foster parents, just us and our boys. We had a fun filled day planned for them and it was a big success. We got to start our day off by picking them up from their house at about 8:30 am. At 8:45, we were off!! First stop Sacramento Zoo, so we thought, but the boys had a different idea. As soon as they seen Fairy Tale Town (this was going to be stop # 2), which is right across from the zoo, they decided they wanted to go there first. So here we went with two very excited and rambunctious boys plus Nicolli in his carseat. As soon as we paid the boys were off and running to the first thing they saw and after that all we seemed to do is run from one thing to the next. Needless to say Raf and I got our workout that day. The boys just loved Fairy Tale Town and all the different things it had for them to play on. After we were done running through the whole park, we seen a lady doing face painting on the way out, so we got the two older boys each a painting on their arm instead of their face. And then they proceeded to make Raf and I get one as well. We had so much fun with the boys at Fairy Tale Town, but now it was off to the Zoo! The boys loved walking thru and seeing all the different animals, but their favorite oart was the play area for kids and then the TRAIN ride. When telling everyone what they did that day, all they talked about was riding the train and nothing else. Kids are so funny! i thought it would take us a lot longer to get through the zoo then it did, so at about noon, we headed to the pond to go have a nice picnic lunch we had packed. It was nice to just sit there and be able to talk to the boys while we had lunch. By the time we were done with lunch there was still so much time until the boys were to be home that we decided to take a quick trip to Rio Vista. When we first got into town we decided to stop by my mom and dads so they could meet the boys and get a glimpse of their personalities. It was a wonderful quick visit. Then after we left my parents the boys wanted to go by our house and see our fish, so we called Raf's mom and dad to meet us at our house for a quick visit as well. You could tell that both grandparents were tickled pink to be able to meet their new grandsons, even if it was just for a minute. After meeting the grandparents, we took them to the park to play for a little while. Nicolli loved being able to run around and play ball at the park, it was so cute. He is just such a happy, sweet little guy. Then for dinner we took them to John's Incredible Pizza where we all had a blast. The boys ate a good helping of Pizza and then we went and played. Raf ran around playing games with Jason and Jeremy, while I ran around chasing Nicolli. The older boys got a bunch of tickets that they were able to turn in for prizes that they liked. Then, unfortunately, it was time to take them home. So we dropped them off after our fun filled day at about 7:15. We did stay and talk to the foster dad for a few minutes after the boys went to bed, just to let him know how the day went and the ups and downs of it. We did have a few challenges, but all in all it was a WONDERFUL day that we got to spend with OUR boys!
Next visit will be this Saturday, another day long visit with the boys. What to do?? This time we want to just keep it low key, but not have them bored out of their minds. Time to put my thinking cap on!!
