We received another call from our SW yesterday about another possible sibling set available. It is a sibling set of 3 caucasion boys, Jason - 6, Jeremy - 5 and Nicholas - 1 1/2. This situation is a little different from the get go, but Raf and I talked about it and decided to go ahead and have our homestudy submitted. All 3 boys are brothers, but due to there ages they were removed from their mothers care and placed into foster care at different times. The 6 & 5 year old were removed first and therefore their termination of parental rights hearing is already scheduled for this month, but they are still receiving some visits with the mom for now. However, since the 1 1/2 year old was removed at a later date, he is not at the point of terminating parental rights yet. He is at the stage of having reunification services possibly terminated at a hearing next month, but the mother is still receiving visits at this time. Our SW was very clear to let us know that if these children are placed with us, that there is still a chance that the 1 1/2 year old could be removed from our care and placed back with his mother. This was a hard thought to swallow, but after talking about it we decided that if she was unable to get the older children back it is probably a small chance that she would be able to get the baby back. We know this could be a scary situation, but sometimes you just have to take the risk.
Please continue to pray for us and these children.
